    Eraly's narrative style of historiography makes for very pleasant and easy reading.His basic theory is that after collapse of Gupta Empire India passed through a dark age of deurbanisation and fragmented polity.Till the onset of Slave dynasty all the foreign invaders of different races and ethnicity were absorbed in Indian social milieu.
