Purnendu Ghosh is the Executive Director of Birla Institute of Scientific Research, Jaipur, India. Prior to this, he was Professor at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and has also worked as Research Scientist at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland; University of Melbourne, Australia; National Research Centre for Biotechnology (GBF), Braunschweig, Germany. He has taken a lead role in augmenting engineering education and research in the country for nearly five decades. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and has been conferred the Distinguished Professorship award of the INAE. He is the Vice President of INAE. He was the Founder-President of Biological Engineering Society and the Founder Editor-in-Chief of INAE LETTERS, a Springer-Nature Journal. He has written and edited a number of research papers, books and general interest articles in both the technical non-technical genres. He writes in English, Hindi and Bengali.
