I AM STILL ALIVE..... indeed, a thought provoking book which highlights many irregularities of the government and failure in the implementation of various laws. It has truly depicted the real life stories of the true heros of life, who have never failed in life.
This book is about Acid Attack survivors in India. The author takes us through the lives of the 10 girls who fall victim to this heinous crime. He travels to Agra to meet them at Sheroes Hangout Café and pens down their true stories. The book also describes in brief the section of Indian Law which deals with Acid Attacks. The Law according to Aman, was recently updated but it hardly serves as a deterrent to the criminals who indulge in this crime. The courage of Acid Attack survivors is indeed praiseworthy and Aman advises that Indian society must change its mindset towards Acid Attack survivors and implores the society to give a second chance to these brave girls so that they may live a more fulfilling life.
While some survivors are still trying to come to terms with their condition, others like Lakshmi recovered from their ordeal and she was courageous enough to start a movement to benefit other Acid Attack survivors. She recently shared stage with Michelle Obama at International Women of Courage Awards. This book is indeed an inspiring book for all and encourages everyone to come out of their ordeals and fight, to live a worthy life.
