    Cockscomb (Celosia cristata) yields brilliant flowers that are long lasting and similar in appearance to the ’s “comb” on a rooster’s head. The cockscomb flower is an annual addition to the flower bed, commonly named for the red variety similarly colored to the cock's comb. Celosia is a small genus of edible and ornamental plants in the amaranth family, Amaranthaceae. The generic name is derived from the Ancient Greek word meaning "burning", and refers to the flame-like flower heads. cockscomb, (Celosia cristata), common garden plant of the amaranth family (Amaranthaceae). Cockscombs are tender perennials but are usually grown as annuals. Cockscomb is a great, low-maintenance plant that offers a huge burst of color in the garden. It thrives in warm temperatures but can still be used as an annual in areas with cold winters. Place this plant in an area with lots of sunshine and rich, moist, well-draining soil. They tend to grow best when they are planted in average, moist and well-drained soil, will tolerate sandy soil, loamy soil, clay soil and moist soil. Now open the seed packet on a white sheet of paper as while opening the seeds might fall, which are not visible to naked eyes. After preparing the soil, insert the seeds into the prepared to half (0.5) inch of depth. While watering, care needs to be taken to only sprinkling water through a sprinkler or manually using your hands, do not use pipe or a mug to water for the first week, as the force of water might damage the seed germination process. Once the seeds grow in to seedlings, say around 3 inches, then you may transplant the seedlings to various pots or desired areas. The sapling needs to be checked at regular intervals to ensure it is not infected by any weed/pest or insect and if you find any such thing on the leaves or in soil then you may spray Organic Pesticides like Neem Oil on it. The nursery bed has to be prepared finely by adding farm yard manure & sand. grooves of 0.5 cm deep have to be made and sow the seed 0.5 cm apart and cover it with thin layer of soil. Spraying the water timely the seedlings will be ready for transplanting. Add urea to the soil for removal of insects and make soil clean and fresh for Home garden and also mix soil with coco peat and Vermi compost for better result in growing plant. DO's: Put seeds 0.5 inch depth inside the soil and add water or spray slowly and timely such that seeds does not come out the soil. can be use all Season, If you using Vermi Composit and Coco peat then result are Good. Dont's: Seeds should not to keep more than 1 inch inside the soil. Note: If sowing seeds indoors, transplant the seedlings to the sunny garden spot when they are several inches tall.
