Arth is about Pooja (Shabana Azmi), an orphan girl. His husband Inder (Kulbhushan Kharbanda)hates her and he falls in love with another woman, Kavita (Smita Patil). He advices Kavita to leave her husband, but his husband refuses. She is helped by Raj (Raj Kiran)to surpass the difficulties of a life as a single person, to find a job and to rely morally on herself. nder requests Pooja to sign the divorce papers. Pooja (Rohini Hattangadi)personally assures Kavita that she is not interested anymore in Inder. What happens next? Does Inder changes his mind and lives with Pooja?
An early, thus sincere and his best, product from Mahesh Bhatt (because later on he was labeled as 'Machine Bhatt). A movie with right amount of characters, dialogues, music, lights & shades, emotions and right choice of characters. I missed Naseer (could hv played in place of Kharbanda, or better, Raj Kiran). But still, my all time one among the favourites. Music by late Jagjit Singh and lyrics by Kaifi Aazmi completes this movie. A must watch for good stuff lover.
It is no doubt one of mahesh bhatt's better movies. The product (DVD) itself is of decent quality. Nothing more. I wonder if its tough to digitally remaster these movies to produce DVDs with better picture quality, something which is regular with English movies. If this is indeed remastered already, then I should say it hasn't worked!
At the given picture quality, I feel it's overpriced.
