Artificial Intelligence is the field of computer science that involves developing software and machines with intelligence. In her book, Artificial Intelligence, Kaushik aims to provide the readers with a comprehensive overview of this subject that is rapidly increasing in popularity. This text may serve the needs of a first-level course for a single semester on Artificial Intelligence. This book has been authored, considering the artificial intelligence courses in several technical universities and institutes in the country.

In total, there are 16 chapters in this book. Some chapters include Fuzzy Sets and Fuzzy Logic, Artificial Neural Networks, Machine-Learning Paradigms, Introduction to Intelligent Agents, Problem Reduction and Game Playing, and Prolog Programming Language. At the end of each chapter, Kaushik has added exercises, which help to test the reader’s understanding. In this book, Kaushik provides the readers with insights into problem solving with planning and intelligent searches, game playing, knowledge representation methods, and Prolog (programming in logic). Throughout this book, the programs have been written using the Prolog programming language. She also throws light on several advanced topics such as fuzzy logic, evolutionary computing, agent technology, natural language processing, and machine learning.

Kaushik has put in a great deal of effort to ensure each concept is explained with suitable diagrams, which makes it easier for students to understand the subject better. This book has been written in a simple manner so that the readers can derive maximum possible knowledge. She has also added pseudo algorithms for several methods and techniques, which help the readers understand their applications. Kaushik has also included solved explanations, detailed illustrations, and tables to explain the concepts better.

About Saroj Kaushik

Saroj Kaushik is an author and professor.

Apart from this book, Kaushik has written Databases in Networked Information Systems, and Logic and Prolog Programming.

Kaushik currently serves as the Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, where she also obtained her doctoral degree in Computer Science. She has been involved in teaching artificial intelligence to undergraduate and postgraduate students for over three decades. Her main areas of research interest lies in Natural Language Processing, Agent Technology, Semantic Web Technologies, and Artificial Intelligence. Kaushik has also published more than 65 research papers in national as well as international journals. She is a Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India, and is also a life member of the Computer Society of India.
