Summary of the Book
When Julius Caesar belittles her people and states that Egypt’s best days are behind her, Cleopatra wrinkles her pretty nose and tells him otherwise. She boasts that her architects can build him a palace in Egypt in three months. Caesar laughs at the ridiculous boast but agrees to a bet. To win the bet, Cleopatra threatens her best architect with a death sentence if he should fail. Terrified, the man resorts to calling in some foreign aid, namely certain Gauls from a village which has been laughing in Caesar’s face for quite some time.
