Asterix: Asterix and Cleopatra (English, Paperback, Goscinny Rene)
All it takes to spin an empire is a nose, and who else but Cleopatra could have the most beautiful nose? However, Julius Caesar thinks Egypt’s best days are behind her, and Cleopatra decides to show him just how wrong he is. Asterix and Cleopatra join forces to give old Julius a run for his Sestertii.
Summary of the Book
Julius Caesar knows how to keep a woman in place, throw some well-intended compliments about her pretty nose her way and she’ll be happy. At least, that’s what he thinks. He has no idea how infuriated Cleopatra can get when her beloved Egypt is insulted. To think that Caesar believes that Cleopatra’s Egypt is no longer the glorious pyramid-building dynasty that it once was! How dare he force her to crumple her lovely nose in anger? She won’t stand for this, and to prove to Caesar that Rome is not the greatest empire in the world, she states that she will build a magnificent palace within three months. However, her chief architect, Edifis, is astonished at his new assignment; it is a sheer impossibility to build a palace in such a short amount of time. Luckily, he remembers a certain village in Gaul, where the villagers seem to possess superhuman powers which help them accomplish the impossible.
