  • Description

In the absence of the druid, the Gauls turn to the advice of an unlikely man, a Soothsayer who everyone seems to trust, everyone but Asterix, of course! Asterix and the Soothsayer is the 19th instalment of the Asterix series by Goscinny and Uderzo.

    Summary of the Book

The druid Getafix is at the annual druid meeting, and the Gauls begin to panic. A deadly storm brews overhead and the Gauls believe that the sky is about to fall on their heads. Just as lightning strikes and thunder rings through the night, a gaunt soothsayer walks into Chief Vitalstatistix’s home, seeking refuge. He claims to be able to see into the future, and he uses the superstitious beliefs of the Gauls to play them according to his whims. However, Asterix doesn’t believe the man for an instant. He sees him for the charlatan that he is, but what can he do when the rest of the village seem to think the man has supernatural powers?

    About the Authors

The names of Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny are nearly inseparable from the bestselling series they created early in their career. They have received many accolades for their work, and the Asterix series has been translated into many languages around the world.
