  • Description
1945. The vote in the House of Lords as to who should inherit the Barrington family fortune has ended in a tie. The Lord Chancellor's deciding vote will cast a long shadow on the lives of Harry Clifton and Giles Barrington. Harry returns to America to promote his latest novel, while his beloved Emma goes in search of the little girl who was found abandoned in her father's office on the night he was killed. When the General Election is called, Giles Barrington has to defend his seat in the House of Commons and is horrified to discover who the Conservatives select to stand against him. But it is Sebastian Clifton, Harry and Emma's son, who ultimately influences his uncle's fate. In 1957, Sebastian wins a scholarship to Cambridge, and a new generation of the Clifton family march onto the page. After Sebastian is expelled from school, he unwittingly becomes caught up in an international art fraud involving a Rodin statue that is worth far more than the sum it raises at auction. Does he become a millionaire? Does he go to Cambridge? Is his life in danger?Best Kept Secret, the third book in Jeffrey Archer's gripping family saga The Clifton Chronicles, will answer all these questions, but once again, pose so many more.

after two successfull ones this is an extender

after two of the most amazing novel of past five years sir jeffery archer takes a stop on this one. no doubt it is page turner too but not as the pervious of this series vol 1 and vol 2
it takes me to complete 5 days to complete vol 1 and 4 days to vol 2 but as you know every thing not perfect everytime. indeed it is very good novel with a turn to harry's life to seb's life.
enjoy it is a good one!

    good read

it is a continuation of the clifton chronicles, the third in this series is much interesting and as usual is ending with a suspense. the next part is eagerly awaited. though he gives a short intro to the previous books, its always better to have read them before getting to this book. in the third book also he had kept the pace and thrill of the story... its getting longer but nevertheless much more interesting.

    OK book

i am a thriller lover and decided to try out with Jeffery Archer. Till 5/6 th of the book, it was interesting and engrossing. The plot is easy to understand. But the ending wasn't so likable. Though it deals a lot with politics and its enmity, fights over ancestral property and the life of a boy, its a good read.

A good sequel but not as great as the first two.

Its a good read. And you will want to know how it ends if you have read the first two. But still I did find the first two better. And more realistic keeping in tone with the feel of the book.
Flipkart is great as usual. Love the service.

    Good, breezy read

Unlike some other reviewers on this site, I found the third book in the series better than the second one. The narrative tries to set a foundation for a generational change as well as building on Harry, Giles and Emma's lives post the second world war. A few new challenges, some old (and a few new) adversaries complete the mix. And, of course, it ends on a note that leaves the reader waiting for the next in the series - though I'm reasonably sue which way the coin is likely to fall. The one g...

    Good, but meanders a bit.

This is typical Archer, moving quickly between different characters, switching scenes and giving us readers non-stop excitement. However, the story begins to lack substance as it moves from Harry to Sebastian Clifton. The first and second book are much more purposeful with the second book especially riding high on the adrenalin rush that Emma's trip to the US and Giles' escape from the Germans provide.

It is still a good read and worth sticking to if you've read books 1 and 2.

    Best Kept Secret

Jeffrey Archer has us on our toes from the word go. The book is equally thrilling as the first two books.

Sebastin Cliffton grows up to be a wonderful youngster, helping his uncle Giles, when needed most.

What happens to Sebastin Cliffton is the key to this book.

Archer and his Cliffton saga will continue.
