Anyone can carry in small purse, laptop/school/college bag & can read in train, bus, flight & thus Read full Bhagavad Gita in short time. For eighteen days, the land of the children of Bharatha watched as the families of Pandu and Dhritarashtra clashed in battle. However, before the battle, Arjuna, one of the Pandavas, finds himself crippled with fear and doubt, questioning his own values. The Bhagavad Gita contains the words of Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, as he explains that not fulfilling one's Dharma is the greatest sin. Summary of the Book The Bhagavad Gita, the Song Divine, is considered to be one of the foremost treatises on philosophy and the concept of Dharma. In its 700 verses, one can find the answer to life, the universe and the explanation of why human beings are repeatedly put through birth and death cycles. Liberation, Krishna explains, comes to those who uphold Dharma. Arjuna's Dharma was to kill his enemies and reinstate his family as the rightful rulers of Hastinapura. Krishna explains that man's repeated failure to uphold his Dharma is why he manifests himself, time and again, to set right the path that humanity strays onto. An examination of the ethical and moral struggles of man, the Bhagavad Gita is the sum total of man's greatest duties, and his worst fallacies. The Bhagavad-Gita is the main source-book on yoga and a concise summary of India's Vedic wisdom. Yet remarkably, the setting for this best-known classic of spiritual literature is an ancient Indian battlefield. At the last moment before entering battle, the great warrior Arjuna begins to wonder about the real meaning of his life. Why should he fight against his friends and relatives? Why does he exist? Where is he going after death? In the Bhagavad-Gita, Lord Krsna, Arjuna's friend and spiritual master, brings His disciple from perplexity to spiritual enlightenment and each one of us is invited to walk the same path..In the course of doing so, Krsna concisely but definitively explains transcendental knowledge; karma-yoga, jnana-yoga, dhyana-yoga, and bhakti-yoga; knowledge of the Absolute; devotional service; the three modes of material nature; the divine and demoniac natures; and much more.Bhagavad-Gita As It Is is the largest-selling, most widely used edition of the Gita in the world. About A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada Abhay Charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada was a Gaudiya Vaishnava guru and the founder-acharya of the Hare Krishna Movement. His mission has reached the entire world and his teachings are followed by millions of people. He is also the founder of the International Society For Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). His publications include an unabridged translation of the Srimad Bhagavatham in , the 18 cantos, the Isopanishad and a most popular version of theBhagavad Gita as it is. THE MOST WIDELY READ EDITION OF GITA IN THE WORLD Bhagavad-gita is universaly renowned as the jewel of India's spiritual wisdom. Spoken by Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, to His intimate devotee Arjuna, the Gita's seven hundred concise verses provide a definitive guide to the science of self-realization. Indeed, no work even compares in its revelations of man's essential nature, his environment and, ultimately, his relationship with God. His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the world's foremost Vedic scholar and teacher, representsan unbroken chain of fully self-realized spiritual masters beginning with Lord Krishna Himself. Thus, unlike other editions of the Gita, his edition conveys Lord Krishna's profound message as it is - without the slightest taint of adulteration or personally motivated change. This edition is the ENGLISH translation of the original Bhagavad-gita. The translations are also available in Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Oriya and many others.

    Value-for-money

I received the sacred Bhagavad Gita yesterday. Well haven't started it as yet so not sure about the vocabulary used but the physical aspects looks good, its small sized but a bulky book. The page quality is not that great (blueish coloured), but its not too bad either as long as its readable. If the high shipping charges are to be kept aside, this book can be placed in the category of value for money products.
