Bhagavad-gita (English, Paperback, unknown)
The Bhagavad Gita is a poem, an extract from Veda Vyasa’s Mahabharata, which expounds on the foundation of Hindu Dharma and philosophy.
Summary of the Book
When the Pandavas and the Kauravas were about to clash for the rule of the Kuru Dynasty, Arjuna, one of the Pandavas, began to have doubts about the battle. He did not see the justice in fighting and killing his own cousins. In the moment of his doubt, he turned towards his charioteer for advice. His chariot was guided by none other than Krishna, the Blue God, who chose that moment to expound the Song Divine to Arjuna. He explained that Dharma is the supreme duty of all human beings, and that the inability to fulfil Dharma is why he manifests himself time and again. He explains that Arjuna’s Dharma is to kill the nefarious Kauravas and free the Earth of their avarice. During the course of this song, Krishna preaches about Hindu philosophy and edicts, finally blessing Arjuna by showing him his Universal Form, the Vishwaroopam of Narayana, He Who Rests on Anantha. The Bhagavad Gita is considered one of the greatest works of philosophy. Each of its eighteen chapters touches upon every facet of Vedanta and Hindu Dharma. It is considered to be a universal work on the virtues and duties of mankind.
