Summary Of The Book

Bloodlines: The Indigo Spell is the story of Sydney Sage, an alchemist who protects the secrets of vampires and the lives of humans. The story begins with her being rudely awakened by the Alchemist who has requested that Zoe, her younger sister be a part of a secret Moroi mission. Even though Sydney is herself finding it difficult to do what she really desires to, as against her Alchemist teachings, she decides to do all that is needed to stop her sister from adopting the alchemists’ ways of life.

Surprisingly, she is able to convince those in charge, of picking her instead of Zoe for the Moroi mission, and is soon on her way to California where she joins Adrian, Eddie and Jill at Amberwood Prep, a boarding school meant for humans. Jill, Eddie and Sydney are enrolled in the school as siblings to avoid any suspicion from others as to why the three of them are always together.

As the story progresses, Sydney meets Marcus Finch, a rebel and former Alchemist who has escaped against all odds. He wishes to teach her all the secrets that the Alchemists are supposedly hiding from her. As she gets ready to go against the very people who have raised her, Sydney realises that getting away from the clutches of the Alchemists is not so easy, considering there is an ancient and mysterious magic firmly rooted within her. In her search for an evil magic user who is targeting young witches, Sydney faces the truth that the only way out is to embrace her Alchemist nature or risk being the next victim.

Richelle Mead is an American author who specialises in writing fantasy novels.

She has written books like Succubus Blues, Shadow Kiss, The Fiery Heart, Vampire Academy and Bloodlines.

Mead was born in Michigan on November 12, 1976. She studied at the University of Michigan from where she received a liberal arts degree. She also holds an MA in Comparative Religion from Western Michigan University. She won the Teen Read Award in the Best Teen Series category and the Goodreads Choice Award in the Goodreads Author awards in 2010. In 2011, she won the Goodreads Choice Awards - Best Graphic Novels and Comics award. A number of her books have been New York Times and USA Today bestsellers. Other than writing, she enjoys traveling and shopping. She currently lives in Seattle.
