In Organic Chemistry, Functional groups are atoms or small group of atoms which are responsible for specific characteristic properties of chemical compounds. The reactivity of a particular functional group is the same in a variety of molecules, to a great extent. Moreover, the functional group can be electron donating or electron withdrawing and therefore can change the electron density of the reaction site. Therefore it is found very interesting to study much about functional groups.
