  • Description
The Buddhist Legend of Jîmûtavâhana is a theatrical play associated from the play Nâgânanda. This play was written in the Sanskrit language, which was attributed to Harsha (r. 606-48 ce) of the Pushyabhuti kingdom, who was the ruler of Kannauj (not to be confused with the ruler of Kashmir). This was later mentioned in the famous Kathasaritsagara of Somadeva, and Brihatkathamanjari of Kshemendra which was written in the eleventh century ce. Though the date and exact authorship are uncertain, scholars agree that it was written during the seventh century ce.
