  • Description

    C++ Primer is a book that aims to keep its readers up-to-date with the latest trends, and also imparts knowledge about the important concepts of the programming language C++.

    Summary Of The Book

    This is the fourth edition of C++ Primer and it aims at enlightening the readers on the current usage of this programming language. This book is also a part of the curriculum for Visvesvaraya Technological University. It provides readers with an insight into the elementary concepts of the language by incorporating several teaching methodologies.

    The book contains a total of 18 chapters along with an appendix at the end of the book. The topics covered in this book include Library Types, Variables and Basic Types, Arrays and Pointers, Expressions, Generic Algorithms, Functions, Associative Containers, Tools For Large Programes, Object Oriented Programming, Copy Control, Classes, Sequential Containers, and Specialized Tools and Techniques.

    The authors’ main objective in C++ Primer is to introduce the readers to modern programming methodologies using the C++ language. Apart from that, they also detail the usage of Standard Library Abstractions rather than in-built low-level abilities. Individuals who have never learnt the language and those who are pros at it can both benefit from this book.

    The Best C++ "Book" Yet

    This is the best book to "learn" C++ rather than check out the facts of the language. This IS NOT a reference book. If you want a reference book, go for "The C++ Programming Language" by Bjarne Stroustrup. For people who expect to learn C from this book, please go and buy the "The C Programming Language" by Kernighan & Ritchie.
    In my opinion, no "book" can teach anyone a complex language like C++. This book is good, probably the best, for giving you a head start but unless you have an interne...

    A Good beginner book

    A good beginner book. If you have no or little programming experience and want to start on C++ this can be good choice. But if you want concise and extensive coverage then steer clear, "The C++ programming language, Bjarne Stroustrup" will be the book for you.
    The coverage of the material is different. You start with stuff that you want to know as a programmer then you get into the details of how C++ enables abstractions and the constructs that provide facilitate building libraries.
    All in al...

    Good book, but think twice before buying

    I have a old version of this book. In my opinion this book contains all the details to learn C++. It is not necessary to learn all the features of C++ for creating good programs, for example mathematicians and physicists need to learn only some features of C++ for solving their problems. Although solving all the exercises in this book is good it pays you off only when you are involved in software projects based on C++ (Gaming or embedded softwares). I recommend learning a functional language ...

    Best book for C++

    This Book is best for C++. It is not good for beginner but is best for reader having some programming experience in C++ or Java. It is good for reference purpose or if you want to polish your knowledge of C++.

    If you want in depth reference for C++ then go for "The C++ Programming Language by Bjarne Stroustrup" the first book for ever written for C++ by one of its creator.

    Overall the presentation of this book is nice and clean.

    c++ Primer 5th edition

    As the title says c++ primer 4th edition, which is wrong the book is actually 5th edition. So the description and details of listing should be updated.

    If this book is your first c++ book then you'll find it a lot harder to understand. But for those who already read 1 or 2 c++ books, this is a must have book for those who wants to be hardcore c++ MVP's The book covers all the topics of c++ 11.

    The delivery be the seller was little slower as compared to flikart's delivery service.

    Great book that requires serious dedication from the reader.

    This book is a lot longer than your average introductory book and rightly so. It is packed with information, that is both necessary and useful. Properly reading and doing the examples and exercises given in the book will give you a firm grasp of the C++ language. But you have to remain dedicated and not cheat because at times the exercises might seem mundane but remember that there is a reason that it is there. Solution for various exercises have been given here

    I have personally gone thro...

    Good!

    I have used many books on c++. But this one is really good. I bought this as a reference material for c++11 but I found it as a good book for beginners also.

    I would request all college students to follow this book instead of their university recommended book.
