Filip, a clerk in a small Polish town, scrapes together money to buy an 8mm camera to film his new baby, but ends up getting hooked on making little films on everything around him. His film on the 25th anniversary of his firm is shown at an amateur film festival and fuels his enthusiasm further. But his manager and his wife do not understand his newfound passion for filming and the resulting changes in his behaviour.
