This camera comes with a 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor that allows you to capture high-resolution images. It also allows a high ISO speed of up to 16000 for still photography (expandable up to 25600) and 12800 for movies (expandable up to 16000 & 25600).

To enable a fast and responsive camera, the EOS 80D is equipped with a DIGIC 6 Image Processor that works with the image sensor to enable Dual Pixel CMOS AF during Live View mode and while capture movies at Full HD 60fps and Full HD HDR modes. The processor also ensures high light sensitivity for high resolution with less noise when you are shooting in dark conditions.

Shooting a subject that is in action is always tough. But thanks to the Dual Pixel CMOS AF in this camera, you can use the AF system to expertly capture high-resolution images of the subject. This is possible through the placement of two photodiodes per pixel, instead of the standard one pixel, and ensuring that each pixel performs phase-difference detection autofocus. Even while shooting movies, this technology comes into play. You will see that switching between subjects, the AF system ensures a steady, natural and precise detection. So once the AF has locked the subject, then it's quite easy for you to consistently track the subject.

This camera is WiFi- and NFC-enabled for transferring images and movies to compatible devices or for sharing on social networking sites. The built-in NFC allows a seamless connection between your Android smartphone and the camera for sharing photos and videos. It also allows you to connect to the Canon Connect Station CS100 that allows you to store, view and organize all your images and videos from the camera.

Using this camera you can capture high-definition, high-quality movies quickly and easily. So whether it's dawn, daylight, dusk or night, and whatever maybe the speed of the action, you can shoot sharp, well-exposed movies. These movies can also be shared as easily as you capture them. Besides the Dual Pixel CMOS AF, the Movie Servo AF ensures precise tracking and maintaining the focus of the ongoing action.

The camera comes with 7.62-cm Vari-angle touch screen Clear View LCD monitor II that allows you to shooting videos and capture still images at a variety of angles. The monitor offers up to 270 degrees of vertical rotation and up to 175 degrees of horizontal rotation. So whether you are capture images or videos at the sports fields, kids park or wherever, you will be able to easily use the intuitive touch panel to access camera settings and focus point and shutter release.

The camera comes with an RGB+IR metering sensor that ensures an accurate exposure along with detecting skin color using the Colour Tracking technology and fast and precise AF. So if you are shooting portraits, then this sensor allows you to establish a more focused AF even when the subject is in motion.

The EOS 80D allows you to shoot up to 7.0 fps during the continuous shooting mode. So in case you want to capture the flight of a bird or that of a gymnast executing a stunt, the rapidly-occurring scene can be captured moment by moment in crisp quality.

The Camera comes with multiple modes that allow you to shoot videos and capture images with different features, exposure, colour tone and more.

When you use this mode, the camera shoots two HD movie frames at different exposures, one standard and one underexposed, in a short period at up to 60 fps. It then combines the two frames for a playback of up to 30 fps. The HDR effects can be used in still photography and it includes Natural, Art standard, Art bold, Art vivid and Art embossed.

If you have seen documentaries, you must have seen them using stock footage of clouds moving at a rapid pace. Thanks to the Time-lapse feature in this camera, you can shoot your own footage of moving clouds across the sky, sunrises and sunsets, the growth of a plant, changes in scenery and flow of people walking.

When you are on the Live Shooting mode, you can alter the mood and visual effect of any of the scene. The Creative Filters include Grainy Black and White, Soft Focus, Fisheye Effect, Toy Camera Effect, Miniature Effect, Art Bold Effect and Water Painting Effect. Additionally, for shooting movies, you can use five filters, namely, Memory Dream, Old Movies, Dramatic B&W and Miniature Effect. These filters can be applied after the shooting, allowing you to experiment with the best filter option that suits the scene.

The camera comes with a flicker detection system that alters you in the viewfinder. It also ensures that images are captured at a peak light volume in situations where there are flickering light sources. This mode allows you to capture high-quality continuous images in sub-optimal light condition.

The camera comes with durable and powerful shutter system with improved mirror drive that enables high-speed, low-vibration performance. The shutter is rated at about 100,000 exposures, ensuring that you have a reliable and predictable performance, frame after frame.
