Author Info | - "Professor Umesh Ashok Kadam is Professor of Medieval Indian History & Early Modern History at the CHS/UNU, New Delhi & Member Secretary, Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi and Member of many apex governing bodies. He specialises in History of Deccan & Western India. Since last two decades he has been visiting universities in Netherlands, France, Portugal and United Kingdom to promote advanced research on the History of Deccan.

He is editor of peer reviewed journals (i) Indian Historical Review, Journal of Indian Council for Historical Research (i) Studies in History, Journal of Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. His areas of interest/specialization are: (i) History of the Marathas and European powers (i) Socio-economic and Cultural History of the Deccan (iii) Trade and Commerce in the 17th and 18th century Konkan coast; (iv) Bhakti movement 10th to 17th century (v) Maritime History of Western India (vi) Urbanization in the Medieval Maratha country.
Professor Umesh Ashok Kadam has been teaching at the Post Graduate level for more than 24 years."
