Now here's a thriller with a nice twist : Contains elements of a lot of different genres. A little historical, a mystery, a little horror, and some suspense/thriller.

Child 44 is one of the best books I’ve read . It’s grim and gristly, and there are a couple of scenes that are like a punch to the gut. In fact, the beginning almost reads like a horror novel.

Child 44 is the tale of Leo Demidov, a top official working under Stalin's Russian Soviet regime in the 1950s. All is well in his career, until the day the body of a murdered child is found on the railway tracks- and Leo is asked to cover it up...

    Not Brilliant on the whole.

Let me say the first half was just brilliant. Its only in the second half, the story (personal opinion) starts to drag, brings in needless sentimentality and loses its punch, i found myself skipping pages. The first half brings you to believe something, feel something. That gets lost in second half.

    Thriller to the core !!

An absolutely engaging tour-de-force!! We all are macabrely fascinated by serial killers. This book, allegedly inspired by Andrei Chikatilo, delves into the psyche of the serial killer. Also brilliantly illustrated is the overwhelmingly hopeless and treacherous Soviet society in the Stalin era. Two thumbs up!!Dont miss this book!!
