This book is Bengali version of the Kannada novel "Chomanna Dudi", written by the famous dalit writer M Shibram Karanth, that rotates around the life of an untouchable dalit 'Choma'. Though written in the context of a particular Indian state Karnataka, the story of homa reflects in the essence the untold stories of all the lower caste people in India, who have since long been organising themselves under the banner of different dalit organisations, leaving aside the stigma of attached to the term 'Harijan' as popularised by Gandhiji.
