    Good Book To Start For...

If you ever wondered how commands like ls, cd work in shell, then you are going the very book which will enable you yo write those programs. Its my basic book in Unix Programming. This book discusses various system calls of available in Unix system and how to use them. However on the downside you should have basic or intermediate C Skills. Introductory chapters may be bit overwhelming with information but latter chapters clear all the air.
My BTech Course book for Unix Lab, so I would recomme...

good for depth but harder for beginner

the book is good for depth knowledge , i don't think it's relevant for beginner. some chapter i like very much, like garbage collection .runtime environments , and code generation . last chapters are more useful to me then 1st chapters . it gave me good understanding . but lack coding examples and pictorial illustrations which is very important . i think it will be harder for a novice understanding the 'syntax analysis' and 'lexical analysis' . in my opinion to understand it very good r...

Ordered on Saturday Evening, got on Monday Morning.
    Flipkart delivery is outstanding.

I think this book is easier if read along with class room tutorial.
These algorithms are not easy to write in a book. With online lectures or classes, it becomes much easier.

    Does the job

This is heavily theoretical book which won't help you to build a compiler, strictly to be used as an reference.
