Gary Cornell is an academic author and educationist. He completed his Ph.D. from Brown University and is a visiting scientist at IBM Watson Laboratories. He has co-authored books like Core Java, Volume I: Fundamentals.

Met Expectations

Not a good book. While initial chapters cover a lot of ground quickly, the later chapters go into very specific details of applications chosen by the author (which may or may not be relevant for the reader). Over all good book but not the ideal book for an intermediate self-learning reader.

An absolute delight to read

The book is an absolute delight to read for readers who are little bit experienced with Java. The authors take up professional approach for writing cleaner, neater and optimized code. The font is neat and sleek, and code snippets are formatted properly.
This book would really help you start off with Java if you're new but will be more helpful to seasoned programmers. 5 stars !

Good book

Although i have read only 1 chapter till now i can say this is a good book especially if you know the basics of c++. Don't worry if you aren't a c++ programmer since it assumes only basic knowledge like loops,understanding of data types. You dont need to be aware of object oriented programming too much.
Also there are supposedly two versions of this book on flipkart with a difference in price. So this version is the indian version and it has been adapted from the original as is written on the...
