Moonj Basketry, an artform from the state of Uttar Pradesh, embody both style and sustainability. Perfect for creating a gallery wall, as a decorative trivet or as a serving dish, our small Moonj Plates can be used anywhere and everywhere. Available in both, neutral and colourful patterns, these plates can adapt in a bohemian style or in an absolute desi traditional setting. We have two sizes available in coloured plates Large & Small with the diameter ranging between 7-10 inches and depth 2 cm. Ideal for wall decor, it can also be used as a trivet plate to hold your jewellery pieces or you can style them as a serving plate for dry snacks for a bohemian theme party. The process of creating Moonj Plates starts after monsoon when Moonj & Kasa (2 kinds of grass) grow along the river banks. The grass is harvested in pre- winters, coiled, dried and dyed with natural colours. After a suitable drying time, begins the process of weaving where Moonj grass forms the base & Sikki/Kasa grass is coiled around it.
