Uses	Sunflowers are processed into cooking oil, meal and confectionary products. Distinct varieties are used for oil and for confectionary purposes. Meal is a byproduct of the oil is extraction process and is used primarily as an ingredient in livestock feed rations.
Soil Nutrient Requirements	Sunflower responds to 30-80 kg N/ha depending upon soil moisture status. Hybrid sunflower, though a high yielder, does not have a high demand for N. On sandy loam and slightly alkaline soils, significant yield increases have been obtained upto 80 kg N/ha ,but in fine textured soils, the optimum rates are much lower.
Sowing Method	Sow by dibbling the seed with a spacing of 60 x 30 cm in heavy soils and 45 x 30 cm in light soils. Follow ridge and furrow system.
