Daniel’s Diary, written by Rajeshwari Chauhan, is a brilliant fiction that brings out historical elements that meddle with a woman’s course of life.

    Summary of the Book

Mrinalini, the female protagonist of the novel, is an art reinstatement expert. One fateful day, she visits the Palace of Sumangarh and the remains of Rang Mahal, as a part of her hiring by a royal family. Mrinalini is in for a surprise when she finds a skeleton and a document. She discovers that it belonged to a Portuguese artist called Daniel, who was in India back in the days of Moghul rule. Time goes back in time to the days when one of the Moghul emperors falls in love with the love interest of Daniel. She happens to be a Rajput princess. Daniel explains in his manuscript about the other woman he meets in his life, a renowned courtesan called Mahamaya, and loses her too. Mrinalini sees these occurrences through Daniel’s eyes and cannot stop thinking how amazingly the story draws many analogies with her own life. Her amnesia of escape is her work and love for architecture, from the futile relationships and chaotic realities of life. How will Daniel’s discouraged love stories of joy and agony affect her life? Will Mrinalini be able to find anything at all from the hints and facts left by the Portuguese artist?

    My Review : 4/5
When I got the book I thought it will be just another boring book, about thing. But to my surprise book was actually nice and left a really good mark in my heart.
Story was based on Mrinalni who was hired by a royal family who transform their fortress into hotel. During restoration process she comes across Love story. Book has everything one could’ve asked for. Power pack of emotions and sense which today’s writer lack. One more thing which I loved was the way she described ...
