Daughters of the Sun is a book that explores the enigma around Mughal woman and their disappearance from common memory. It is an account of the many women who lived in the shadow of their men yet led meaningful lives that had an impact on the societies they lived in. They spread the grandeur of the Mughals by writing biographies, building monuments, engaging in diplomacy and patronizing various arts.

About the Author

Ira Mukhoty is an Indian author who is mainly known for her books, Heroines: Powerful Indian Women of Myth and History and Daughters of the Sun: Empresses, Queens, and Begums of the Mughal Empire. During her stay in Delhi, she started to garner an interest in mythology and history, especially their relevance to the status of women in the Indian society. She completed her graduation in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge. She is currently working on a biography of the Mughal Emperor, Akbar.
