Dead Beautiful is a modern gothic novel that tells us the story of Renee Winters and her adventures in Gottfried Academy.

Summary of the Book

The story begins with Renee Winter celebrating her sixteenth birthday. The world around her seems to be perfect. All of this comes to an end with the sudden death of her parents. Her grandfather sends her off to a strange boarding school called Gottfried Academy in Maine. She is made to learn subjects like Crude Sciences and the dead language, Latin. Her love interest is a boy named Dante Berlin, a dark and handsome boy. However, weird things keep happening to her whenever they meet. Gottfried Academy has a deadly past and Renee needs to uncover it. Also, she has a strange tendency to discover dead bodies wherever she goes. The author has brought in a lot of details of her own life in this novel.

About Yvonne Woon

Yvonne Woon is best known for her first published novel, Dead Beautiful. She has also written another book called Life Eternal, which is a sequel to this novel and was released in the year 2012. Woon was born and raised in Massachusetts and studied at Worcester Academy. Currently, she is pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts in Fiction from Columbia University. Some of Yvonne’s interests include chemistry, supernatural phenomena, and etymology.
