Are We Deceiving Ourselves Again? Lessons the Chinese Taught Pandit Nehru but which we refuse to Learn, authored by Arun Shourie, is a book that delves into Chinese intentions of invading India behind the friendly facade that deceived the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and thus India as an entire nation.

    Summary of the Book

Arun Shourie, the scholar, asserts that it was ourselves who deceived ourselves in comprehending the intentions of China to invade Tibet and occupy it under their control. And although a few people like Sardar Vallabhai Patel, M. R. Masani, Acharya Kripalani, Shyama Prasad Mookherjee and even the young Vajpayee sensed that Nehru’s assumptions about a friendly China were false, Nehru seemed to ignore their cautions. Even a few officers had the courage and concern to document about China’s activity along the Indian borders just before the 1962 fiasco, but Chou En-lai and the Government of China had lured Nehru and thus India, as an entire nation had to pay its price. This book brings out more truths, facts and evidences that occurred during the times.
