  • Description

Aman, a typical Indian middle-class boy goes through the normal derailment process by the society and carries the astronomical burden of expectations from all and sundry. His life is only made miserable by the never-ending comparisons with an overachieving IITian brother.

College provides some solace where he meets four other equally useless but nonetheless interesting friends. School, college, workplace – everywhere his life goes through more ups and downs than a sinusoidal function while the lady luck continues to elude him.

Disheartened he leaves his job in the quest for nothing in particular. An unexpected turn of events reunites him with his four college-mates.

Together they set out to make something out of their lives... but what and how much can you achieve when you are too messed up by the shit that has already happened with you?

Does the society prove to be a hurdle or an impetus in such a scenario? Does he succeed? Should he?

Forget John Galt, who the hell is Udit?

That is the pertinent question the book leaves you asking. The kind of incidents the author ascribes to the character Udit, his character development or simply the introduction of Udit is so hilarious that you keep wondering whether such a character can or does exist in real life and if he does, why is he not among your friend circle. The protagonist Aman is very well portrayed and depicted but I just loved this Udit guy even more.

If you read this book, you'll start reading...

I know this is a big claim to make but the living example is here typing this review. I had not read much till now except the newspaper headlines and articles sometimes. No, not even the CB novels. A friend who had read "Who Decides" insisted I must try it, well I did and now I'm trying my hands on more books. This novel is so gripping, so well presented, so well thought of and laid out that it gave me a sense of what I might have been missing so far.....well I'll let you know how my reading ...

    A journey of extremes!

Cover to Cover! That is how gripping this novel is. I have known the author for quite sometime now, and know very well that satire and subtle humor are his fort when it comes to playing with words and inscribing them on paper( or laptop, which ever you prefer). With this book, he stamps the same with authority. Aman, like most of us, is outweighed by the expectations from anyone to everyone and that is why as the protagonist, he is sure to be liked by all and sundry. And his friends and their...

If you ever complained why no one wrote about anything other than silly college love stories, you can stop now.

The heading says it all....if you love the CB's creepy love stories and that is all you want to read, you would do better to steer away from this book....for others, you have come to the right place; it's understandable if you have read one of *those* so far and even excusable if you keep doing so but at least you now should stop giving the 'lack of availability of good novels' as the reason for doing so.

    Insightful and humorously so…

This came as a recommendation from a friend (whom I can’t thank enough for doing so). You don’t feel like you are reading the novel rather you would feel that you are living it. The characters are all fresh, not the banal and repetitive college students falling in love and being too shy to tell each other.

And yes, highly fast faced, none of those boring ‘green leaves on the trees’ and ‘a chair in the middle of the room used for sitting’ kind of truisms. Once you begin you are hooked to it ...

    My first book-review

THEME: WORK, WINE AND WOMEN! AND MEN WILL BE MEN.

Frankly, “WHO DECIDES” is a laughter ride from the very word go! You read, you go in splits, you exclaim “What the hell, Man!!!”, you eww “How Bizzare Dude!! ”, you connect “Oh! This happened to me as well!” and ultimately you happily accept “Ah! True, whatever!”.
WHO DECIDES is not the usual, go-with-the-flock mushy love and cheesy romance story found in every other budding writer’s debutant work. It is an offbeat endeavour in writing. Not a...

Great story with good sense of humour

It's a must read book, full of fun, different from other love stories..much much better than the other IITian writers. The way author presented the story is awesome. All characters and story is very interesting, humorous. The way author played with word is just tremendous.

A welcome respite from the quotidian Chetan Bhagat typecast

I started reading the book with the apprehension of ‘Ohh another IITian with a love story’ but was pleasantly surprised as with each chapter I found more and more deviation and freshness. A new trademark, a new style, be it in character development, be it plot, narration and of course not to forget the language proficiency. I am happy it’s an IITian redefining the perceived image of IITians and possibly how writing and literature is received in India.

    Soaked in Humor

Once you start reading it, you lose track of time. It's enthralling to the level that the end of the book makes you feel like left alone in the room, while those characters in the book have already set out on a new journey you so wish to be a part of.

It's difficult to guess if it's writer's imagination or some real life story, but having those kind of characters around you may certainly make you wish for a longer life span.

Some part of the book has been inspired from Chetan Bhagat, yes, I...
