  • Description

Delhi Calm is a graphic novel that takes us back to what Delhi was like in the 1970s.

    Summary of the Book

What would you do if you woke up one morning and realized that your rights as a citizen have been taken away from you? How would we deal with it if the State were to tell us that we have to live our lives the way they want us to live it? It is not easy to live in a world where you have to follow a particular way of living, loving or laughing. Nobody likes to be kept under surveillance and have their privacy invaded. This is the story of Delhi in mid-1970s and three men have just crossed paths. They are very different in the way they think, but all three of them look forward to one thing – change. Will they work together despite being so different from one another? Read this graphic novel and learn about some of the most important moments in the history of Indian democracy.

    My favorite Graphic Novel

This book took me 35 years back, to the time of indian emergency 1975-77. I spent more time referring to wikipedia and google, than actually reading the book. All the characters in this novel have actually existed. They are not identified with their actual names.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Some graphic images vividly present cases of historic violence with gory images. The depth of research, artistic satire as well as intelligent references are to be appreciated. This book has insp...

    Interesting Book

Ghosh has a very interesting take on Emergency...mostly in Delhi. The perspective is very fresh and Ghosh manages to say a lot without actually saying much. The artwork is great in that it doesn't use a lot of colors but gets the moods just right. Loved the book.

    A great graphic novel

This is indeed one great graphic novel. Best part is the artwork in this novel. It is very distinctive and has an Indian touch to it. Unique and original artwork makes this a very good read. Should read everybody.

    Quite a Fresh Perspective

A subaltern way at looking at the emergency rather than the history textbooks. A good buy and a good addition to any home library. and now i am just filling up random lines because this review needs to have 200 characters in the post. Not sure why though!
