Bhelkar, a poet, a short story writer, prose lyricist, critic and translator, is bilingual who writes in Marathi, English and translates from both the languages, was born on October 21, 1960 at Kalmeshwar in Nagpur District of Maharashtra, India. He is the recipient of Madhaorao Chandorkar Gold Medal and XII All India English Teachers Conference for topping M. A. (English) programme, besides various honours and awards for creative publications. At present he is Associate Professor of English at Dhanwate National College, Nagpur, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj, Nagpur University. He teaches Romantic poetry, Victorian fiction, Modern Poetry, Modern Fiction, Criticism, Research Methodology at undergraduate, postgraduate levels and guides research students, He has published Rangdhoon: Saj Ani Gaj, edited (Criticism on paintings), two anthologies of poems, Kanpa Ani Prandhoon, Paradh, Ani Ayudh, Jatau Ani Etar Katha, (Anthology of short stories), Chakrabalicha Pravas (Anthology of prose lyrics).
