Malala Yousafzai starts off with her own story as an Internally Displaced Person to show what it is like to lose your home, your community and the world that you’ve known. She also shares a few personal encounters with girls that she’s met on her journey to refugee camps and cities where the refugee girls’ families have settled down.
About the Author
Born on 12 July 1997, Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for female education and one of the youngest Nobel Prize laureates. Known for the human rights advocacy for education, Malala defied the Taliban as a young girl as she demanded that the girls be educated. Though shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in 2012, she survived and went on to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
