  • Description

In Does He Know a Mother’s Heart? – How Suffering Refutes Religions, Arun Shourie poignantly and profoundly examines the existence of suffering and the stands of different scriptures about it.

    Summary of the Book

Politician, journalist and author Arun Shourie brings out his intense philosophical ponderings in Does He Know a Mother’s Heart? He attempts to find out why there seems to be a sense of indifference in God when it comes to extreme suffering, especially when it is so commonplace. He tries to dissect the scriptures to understand why the almighty, the most compassionate entity, doesn’t interfere when the innocent are put to endure immense pain and loss. Shourie also explains why he is more gravitated towards Buddhism, and what the teachings hold for those who are going through trying times in their daily lives.

    pleasure to buy with

It is very nice to shop with flipcart. service and followup is very fine. but a little problem with courier service. courier boy never confirms whether customer (my experience) is available on delivery address, i.e. office. he comes to office and then makes call. Afterwards asks to collect the parcel from his office. in courier office it appears that people there are much busy. they even does not enquire why a customer came to their office...! otherwise experience with flipcart is very nice.

An amazing book on how, in pain, religion fails ... and fails miserably. One has to read it till the last to feel the impact.

Not the best buy for good readers

I would say this is a fine book, but those who are used to a better class of literature like the bookers and the nobels would find it rather boring. The cause invoked is pressing but the writer just goes a bit monotonous and unecessarily lengthens the book
