Dork: The Incredible Adventures Of Robin ‘Einstein’ Varghese is a humorous and thought-provoking fictional tale of a naive boy from a management graduate to an associate with a business consulting organization.

    Summary Of The Book

Sidin Vadukut’s Dork: The Incredible Adventures Of Robin ‘Einstein’ Varghese, is his debut novel and the first book in the Dork trilogy. It is an autobiographical account of the protagonist’s life during the final days of his graduation at an Indian B-school and the first year of his professional life. Robin Varghese is a brilliant studious student in his twenties who is nicknamed by his friends as ‘Einstein’. However, he lacks social skills and is thus stupendously naive.

Robin hopes that his academic skills will land him into one of the top notch companies after his graduation and he will get an assignment abroad with a lucrative salary. But his dreams get shattered soon when he ends up in Dufresne Partners, a rather mediocre mid-market management consulting organization located in Mumbai. Robin soon accepts his reality and starts moulding himself to the office environment.

Just when he thinks he is adapted to his new life, a series of goof-ups start taking place in his professional life. A hilarious but serious series of blunders, errors, and mishaps make him the center of attraction for everything that goes wrong in the office. His seniors start regretting the day they decided to hire him. And with all this chaos happening at his workplace, Robin gets nowhere near his goals.

Another twist in Dork: The Incredible Adventures Of Robin ‘Einstein’ Varghese comes when Robin’s personal life becomes equally haywire. He is of the notion that he is happy with his steady girlfriend, but soon he finds out that fate has other plans for him, as he unexpectedly falls in love with another girl. Will Robin achieve his professional goals? Will love take its right course? Vadukut takes the reader on roller coaster ride as Robin survives his first year at his first job.

Dork: The Incredible Adventures Of Robin ‘Einstein’ Varghese is a humorous book that presents satirical and thought provoking insights into the marketing consulting industry. It is written in a journal style and it is through Robin’s daily diary entries that the reader gets to know the entire story.

    Highly Entertaining

After Chetan Bhagat became famous, there was a herd of people who started writing novels and all were based on IIT or love failures. Sidin was the 1st one or rather the 1st one who gave that difference from the routine stories by Indian writers. He just blew us away with the book. Initial few pages were such that the story didnt move but as Dufresene hires Robin, its never a put down book. SUch a highly entertaining book. Even the encounters with Robin's girlfriend was really awesome. And the...

A fine debut with a refreshingly different narrative

After writing a less-than-favourable review for Dork 2, I felt it only just to say what I felt about it's predecessor.

Dork was a much-awaited book by the Indian blogosphere, and for good reason. Sidin Vadukut is one of India's finest humour writers. Name one person who hasn't read his epic Travails blogpost and laughed out loud.

This book is written in the first person, in the form of diary entries. Brave move by Sidin, who has to deviate from his normal writing style and almost step down ...

    Adipoli!

This is an easy, fast paced and extremely read. The satire is razor sharp and those who are MBAs / employed in the corporate world will end up chuckling throughout at how close many of the situations, albeit exaggerated, are to real life. The narrative style is interesting (entirely through diary entries) as well. Of course, mallus have an edge - as they do in most aspects of life ;) - over others, due to a liberal sprinkling of the language & references to local films etc. but it does not ta...

The Book that makes you think like its protagonist!

Were Geese! Oh where have you been hiding all these years! I purchased this book recently and needless to say, after a swift service from Flipkart, the book gave me more than what I needed during the exam season!

Right from the first page, it is humor at its finest. Rarely I come across Indian novels where the humor quotient is unassumingly high. This one speaks of abrupt humor, the misfortunes of a narcissistic dork, how he screws his career yet sails through as a winner- Dork is amazing!

    Full on Time-pass and Paisa-vasool !!

Want something light and humorous to read? Been part of the MBA crowd? Dork is a must read. Simple to read and very gripping just by the virtue of its humour, this book makes sure you smile throughout your reading. Vadukut's blog is clearly reflected in his book with very similar way of writing and his slapstick humour. One of those books which doesn't stress your gray matter. Highly Recommended !!

    Good Read....but then nothing great

I found this book a good read. But if you haven't read it and are planning to buy it because it has been written by Sidin or for some other inspiring reasons, buy it at your own risk. You might not find it that great.

It gives a perspective of how corporate world is shaping to be. How it's so easy to find a house on rent in Bombay.

And how a non-IIM is conveniently termed a loser!!

Overall, i found it a good read and would not actually recommend it.

    Good Book

Though the humour quotient, according to me, is a little less, however, this book is completely time pass. I started reading and within 2 days was done with it. The characters potrayed are nice and easy to relate with. Overall I would recommend this book to anybody. At Flipkart's discount , it is totally worth purchasing.

    Hilarious Tale

Its a mindless comedy, Robin 'Einstein' Varghese and done a good comedy of errors. an engaging book to read. Sidin has a good style of writing. The book takes a deep dive into consulting business and shares an interesting story of an IIMA pass out.
