  • Description
Down to the Lover’s Own Village is a novel told through diary entries, offering a poignant glimpse into the lives of two communities—Brahmins and Malai Brahmins—over a span of five years. The story follows Goutam, a Tamil Brahmin, who finds himself torn between his conservative upbringing and modern thoughts, as well as the pull of filial love and his desire for prosperity. His life takes an unexpected turn when Ananya, a Malai Brahmin girl whose name means "not different," enters his world. She shatters all societal barriers, much like a butterfly breaking free from its cocoon, in the face of threats and honor killings. Both Goutam and Ananya succeed in the Civil Services examination, complete their training, and secure their appointments. With their sights set on realizing the dream of their "Lover’s Own Village," they embark on a journey that tests their hopes and beliefs in ways they never imagined.
