    Great read !

I am a fan of war stories specially ones where the characters are well developed and the author shows them as complex human beings and not just plain good or bad. This is one such story. The protagonists are people you can understand and empathize with. I fell in love with Kurt Steiner and Liam Devlin. That said, it is a very fast paced and thrilling story which is highly enjoyable to read.

WW2 thriller at its best. And extremely true to life in detail

As a WW2 period fan and a die hard Jack Higgins and Alistair Maclean aficionado, this is one of the best stories I ve read. Even the dramatization with Michael Caine playing the enlightened, aristocratic German commander was a first class portrayal.
The fact that there were gentlemen, good human beings, fathers and regular folk on both sides, German and British comes out so very clearly, especially when the german trooper dives into the Mill race to save the child and dies in the process.

When I first read it many years ago I was simply enthralled at the plot, the pace etc. And finding it here on flipkart has simply made my day. A must read for any WWII action/adventure fan, a great read despite being written over 3 decades ago! Will forever keep this book for future generations to enjoy!
