  • Description

Elements of Spacemaking, by Yatin Pandya, is a book that examines the integral aspects of spacemaking elements of architecture.

    Summary of the Book

The ideas of space are physically manifested in architecture through diverse elements that constitute the fundamental recognizable parts of the man-made or constructed environment. This title delves into the inherent attributes of spacemaking features such as: walls, roofs, doors, columns, windows, stairs and floors, and analysis of their implicit influences on the design of space. It charts the evolution of each element through history and their effective applications, through extensive drawings and sketches and thorough case studies from across the world.

    Totally worth it!

Must read for every aspiring architect! Less theory and more of illustrated examples which make it easier to understand.

A must for Young Architecture Students! but Bad Binding!

Initially i thought to be an indian Version of Form Space and Order of FDK Ching. BUt the whole classification of Space and its Elements is different and very physical (initially). The language is lucid.
I just hope the BOOK DESIGNER had considered the pragmatics of Book Design. The book in this half A4 format is difficult to handle and use. Its really difficult to turn the ages with a tight book binding.
