  • Description

Published in the year 2002, Environmental Law And Policy In India: Cases, Materials And Statutes is a book that provides the readers with key insights into the current environmental laws and policies in the Indian subcontinent.

    Summary Of The Book

Every facet of the Indian society is affected by the environmental laws and policies in the country, the most greatly affected being the poor. This section of society is exposed to the effects of deforestation, depletion of natural resources, and building of dams, which results in contaminated water, polluted air, poor sanitation, and scarcity of wood. This book is the second edition of the classic first edition, and now comprises clear-cut insights into landmark judgments as well as policy documents, that pertain to the environmental law and policy in the country.

In total, there are 15 chapters in this book. Some chapters include International Environmental Law and Global Issues, Regulation of Hazardous Substances, Judicial Remedies and Procedures, Environmental Policy in India, and The Bhopal Gas Leak Case. Each portion of this text comprises notes, comments, and questions that stretch the reader’s thinking capability. It consists of all leading cases in environmental law in the country, with the extensiveness of an American law case text.

At the end of this book, the authors have included appendices that cover the Air Act, the Environmental Act, the Forest Act, and the Water Act. The readers are also given insights into several rules and regulations pertaining to noise, the environment, and the seacoast. This second edition of Environmental Law and Policy in India: Cases, Materials and Statutes is a must-have for all law students.
