  • Description
Our history has been unfair to Emperor Lalitaditya of Kashmir. Dogra rulers ended Begar in the State of J&K. Aurel Stein’s role in protecting our essential manuscripts has not been fully acknowledged. . We have never tried to hear what Capt Diwan Singh, ADC to Maharaja Hari Singh had been saying about the crucial days of October 1947. The contribution of Kashmiris to the freedom struggle and Hindi cinema has never been thoroughly documented. The existence of ‘Erotic Art’ and the Ajivika tribe in ancient Kashmir needs to be known. We must know Biju Patnaik’s role in saving Srinagar city from Pakistan sponsored ‘Tribal Raiders’ in 1947 needs to be acknowledged. Emperor Akbar waived Jaziya imposed by Chak rulers on Kashmiri Hindus. The real story of the destruction of Baramulla town (by Pakistan sponsored Tribal Raiders in 1947) as seen by Dr Kashi Nath Pandita needs to be heard. The struggles, sorrows and yearnings of the immigrants to the US need to be understood. Was Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib influenced by the Upanishads and the core message of Vedanta? In this book, there is an attempt to examine this issue as well. And we have never heard about the scriptural sanctity of the confluence of the Sindh stream and the Jhelum river at Shadipora in Kashmir. These essays make this book precious and worth buying.
