The Evolution of Physics (English, Paperback, Einstein Albert)
The Evolution of Physics traces the progress of various ideas in physics. Written by Albert Einstein in collaboration with Leopold Infeld, the book is mainly for the lay reader to understand the growth of Physics from early concepts to relativity and quantum mechanics.
Summary of the Book
Einstein always asserted that objective reality has been fuelling man’s endless curiosity to know more about the world we live in. He stressed upon his realist approach to Physics on the same grounds, defending his faith in the efficacy of field theories amongst the development of quantum mechanics theories. In this book, Einstein and Infeld discuss much complex concepts in lucid language to help readers from a non-scientific background. They explain relativity and mechanics, time, distance, the time-space continuum, general relativity, ether and motion, and the reality of the field among other exhilarating concepts of Physics. This book, written by some of the best minds in history, was a huge success then, and still continues to be.
About the Authors
Albert Einstein, a gentleman who belongs to the elite league of Newton, Tesla and Maxwell, is considered to be the greatest scientist of the 20th century. Born in Germany, Einstein worked as a clerk in the patent office before revolutionizing the world of physics with his incredible achievements. He gave the world, two of the most brilliant concepts of physics through his theories of relativity. He won the Nobel Prize for Physics for his work on Photoelectric Effect, which eventually became the foundation stone for tremendous developments in electronic technologies and quantum theory. Einstein is not only celebrated as the greatest physicist of all the time but he is also remembered as a humane, humourist and philosopher. World War II and the presence of Adolf Hitler in Germany forced him to stay in the US during the period, where he consistently tried hard to warn and evade the application of nuclear fission as a weapon of mass destruction. He collaborated and interacted with many extraordinary minds of his time contributing to the world of physics and humanity as a whole. His unmatched intellectual imagination, along with his immense interest in music, philosophy and humanity makes him the greatest personality that mankind has ever seen.
Leopold Infeld was a Polish physicist. He worked in Cambridge and Princeton Universities among other places, donning various roles. He is best known for Born-Infeld theory and the Einstein-Infeld-Hoffmann equations.
