Financial Intelligence: A Manager's Guide To Knowing What The Numbers Really Mean is an explicative guide to the fundamental basics of finance and financial management.

    Summary Of The Book

Published in 2005, Financial Intelligence: A Manager's Guide To Knowing What The Numbers Really Mean aims at simplifying concepts in finance for the reader, thereby aiding the process of understanding and implementing these concepts in the workplace with ease. Managers, in particular, are often expected to use quantifiable financial data for the perusal of their budgets and resources. However, understanding financial jargon is often a daunting task for them. To resolve this predominant issue, the authors collaborated and published this book.

Topics like the time value of money, financial statements and ratio analysis have been explained in a lucid manner, with the help of several illustrated examples. The book is broadly divided into eight sections, housing 31 chapters in total. These chapters cover topics like Cost and Expenses, Cracking the Code of Income Statements, The Language of Cash Flows, The Power of Ratios, Financial Literacy Strategies and the Building Blocks of ROI, amidst other important concepts. Common questions like when is a sale a sale and the need to increase your financial intelligence have been addressed in this book as well. There are also additional toolboxes at the end of every section to help the reader grasp the fundamentals of finance with ease, as well as strategic tips from the authors to help managers improve the performance of their company.

The book is designed to boost the confidence of anyone who felt unsure about talking numbers or incorporating financial strategies in their work performance. There are several real-life examples which have been borrowed from several companies, and these help the reader to relate to the subject matter even more.
