    • Dr. G Subbulakshmi an eminent nutritionist with over 45 years of teaching, research and administrative experience, has a PhD in Food Science and Nutrition and has worked as a post-doctoral fellow in CFTRI, Mysore in early 1970s. She has worked as the First Principal of the S.M. Patel College of Home Science in Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat and Indramani Mandelia College of Home Science in Pilani, Rajasthan. She has been instrumental in introducing internship for the students in Home Science Colleges and Sports Nutrition and Food Science and Technology in the Nutrition curriculum. She has published several research papers and her book along with Dr. Shobha Udipi on Food Processing and Preservation has been widely used in the colleges. She has guided more than 25 PhD students in Food Science and Nutrition apart from more than 60 MSc students in their Dissertations. She has published more than 70 Research Papers in National and International Journals. Dr. Subbulakshmi has worked towards the improvement of community Health and Nutrition. Having worked on research projects funded by National and International Agencies, apart from publishing the research articles in scientific journals, she has also prepared a number of booklets and pamphlets on nutrition related topics for educating the common man. She has received Fulbright award for studying the college administration in USA, Pl480 Research Scholarship for doing PHD, UGC’s National Research Associateship award as well as Hari Om Ashram Prizes for 3 different best Research papers in Nutrition. The various awards received by Dr. Subbulakshmi speak of her abilities. She has been awarded M.L. Khurana Memorial Award –2002; Life Time Achievement Award from Alumni Association of the M.S. University of Baroda; Life Time Achievement Award from Nutrition Society of India, Mumbai Chapter, and Dr. Rajammal Devadas award and T.K. Basu Award for excellent contributions to Nutritional Sciences from International College of Nutrition, USA. Dr. Shobha A Udipi is a PhD in Food and Nutrition from Purdue University, USA. She was Professor and Head of the Department of Food Science & Nutrition, SNDT Women’s University until February 2016. Presently, she is Honorary Director, Integrative Nutrition and Ayurceuticals in Kasturba Health Society’s Medical Research Centre, Mumbai and is also Professor Emeritus at the University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU), Bengaluru. Presently, she is also the Chairman, Board of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition, at SNDT Women’s University. She has guided 18 PhD students and is currently guiding four PhD students. She has published 97 research papers so far in national and international journals. She has also co-authored four books and contributed nine chapters in international books.
