Protection schemes have to be devised for these power systems, so that damage to life and property is reduced to a minimum in case of any dangerous, unforeseen circumstances. An electrical engineer, therefore, must be familiar with the principles of power system protection.

Fundamentals Of Power System Protection is a textbook which details the fundamental concepts and design aspects involved in devising power system protection schemes. It’s targeted primarily towards final year electrical engineering students, but practising engineers who wish to revisit the fundamentals will find this book useful.

To make the text engaging and readable, the authors have included plenty of block diagrams, illustrations, tables, and figures. Extensive annotations have been provided for the graphics included in the book, as a tool for enhancing learning and absorption of concepts.

About The Authors

Y. G. Paithankar was a Professor and Head of Department at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur.

The other book authored by him is titled Transmission Network Protection: Theory and Practice.

Y. G. Paithankar has a rich experience of over 30 years in the field of power systems. Of the many papers he has published in journals, fifteen have appeared in international journals.

S. R. Bhide is an Associate Professor in the Electrical Engineering department at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur.

Bhide has nearly three decades of teaching experience. His research interest is applying techniques of Artificial Intelligence to power system protection schemes.
