Gandhi’s Bhagvad Gita reveals the thoughts of the Mahatma on one of the greatest works of Hindu Mythology ever written.

    Summary of the Book

Before the horrible Kurukshetra battle, Arjuna, one of the five Pandavas, began to doubt his justification of the onslaught that was to follow. He threw down his bow and announced that he would not fight his cousins, the avaricious Kauravas. He turned to his charioteer for advice, and the man delivered. It was divine ordinance that brought this particular charioteer to him. Krishna, the Lord of Dwaraka, the Blue God, began to explain the concept of Dharma to Arjuna. He explained that Man’s failure to uphold his Dharma has corrupted the human race time and again. He explained that every time this happens, he has taken yet another incarnation to set things right again. He shows Arjuna his true form, the Viswaroopam of Vishnu, and explains that his Dharma was to kill the Kauravas and rid the world of their menace forever. The Bhagavad Gita has always influenced and guided men and women across the world. It had a huge influence on one particular human being, a man who realized that his Dharma was to stay the sword and uphold the white flag of peace. It guided him, taught him and brought him courage when he stood, seemingly frail and alone in front of the mighty British Raj as he demanded the Independence of India. If not for the Bhagavad Gita, perhaps the name Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi would not have echoed throughout the halls of history with as much life and fire as his better-known moniker. Perhaps without it, there would have never been a man fit to carry the weight of the title of Mahatma.
