The 2016 edition of this book, has been redesigned as per the requirements of the aspirants vis-a-vis decisions taken by the Govt. In the month of May where CSAT has been made qualifying in nature. Effectively, this means that this particular paper is now of no value for the final scores of aspirants, which, in turn, determines whether or not they are selected for the Mains exam. However, students need to secure passing marks to be eligible for the Mains exam. Keeping this in mind, the emphasis of the book has been shifted to more practice for the aspirants. The objective of this revision has been to remove redundant content and to keep content in sync with the latest exam pattern of General Studies Paper II of the Civil Services Preliminary Examination. The text has been meticulously prepared by the authors who have vast experience in this area. Each topic is given in a separate chapter, with inputs on how to prepare supported by multiple-choice questions, with answers, for sufficient practice. In the 2015 question paper, some of the passages mentioned are also covered in our book. The passages used in our book are from current events and Govt. reports for which we have taken permissions from the Govt offices. The content of the question paper of the UPSC examination is also taken from the same source, which is why we have so many passages in common
