The Grand Hotel has unfortunately fallen victim to a most alarming haunting and Stilton steps up to help his old friend, the owner of the hotel through this difficult time.

Geronimo is the editor of the Rodent’s Gazette and he lives in Mouse Island. In this book, his sister Thea and his beloved nephew, Benjamin make minor appearances. Apart from the regulars in the Stilton family and the series, there is also the arrival of the affable and intelligent Poirat, an admired detective. Together they have been called upon to look into this haunting and investigate into the authenticity of the ghost who has been troubling the customers and the management of the hotel for over a month.

This is a most interesting case for Geronimo, as he doesn’t believe in the possibility of ghosts and so, with the assistance of Poirat they set upon the hotel in an attempt to solve the mystery. The ghost that has been sighted at the hotel is claimed to wear armor and carry a resounding ball and chain. Will the star investigators of New Mouse City manage to solve the mystery of the ghost and save the Grand Hotel from ruin?

Geronimo Stilton is the pseudonym used by Elisabetta Dami who is an Italian writer of children’s fiction. Her books in the series include Paws Off, Cheddarface, The Phantom Of The Subway and The Wild, Wild West, The Search for Sunken Treasure, The Peculiar Pumpkin Thief, The Mouse Island Marathon, A Very Merry Christmas, and The Golden Statue Plot.

Dami was born in 1958 and she began her foray into the literary world as a proofreader at her family’s publishing house. She worked as a volunteer for sick children and this experience inspired her to write adventure stories for children. Her other subsidiary series include the Thea Stilton books, the Cavemice books and the Creepella Von Cacklefur books. The books have gone on to sell more than 65 million copies across the world. She created the Geronimo Stilton series in collaboration with the Piemme publishing house. She currently spends her time between Arizona and Italy.
