The Globalization of World Politics: An Introduction to International Relations offers logical insights into the contemporary political scenario and global relations.

    Summary Of The Book

The Globalization of World Politics: An Introduction to International Relations gives readers a clear introduction on contemporary international relations. The book combines theory with history to give readers a clear picture of various processes and structures. The book offers a concise and comprehensive introduction to World Politics and International Relations. Divided into 5 distinct sections, the book covers important theories of world politics, the historical context, international issues, globalization in the future, and structures and processes. The book includes informative writing by leading professionals about important contemporary issues faced by people all across the globe.

Beginning with Anthony McGrew's views on globalization and global politics, the book goes on to cover the evolution of international society, international history from 1900 to 1999, and the evolution from the cold war to the world economic crisis. The second part focuses on important theories of politics like Realism, Liberalism, Postcolonialism, Neo-liberalism, Neo-realism, Marxism and other critical theories of international relations. Other writings like Social Constructivism by Michael Barnett, Post Structuralism by Lene Hansen, and International Ethics by Richard Shapcott are also included.

Structures and processes are included in the third section. It covers the changing character of war, international and global security, international law and regimes, international political economy in the global era, gender in world politics and international organizations in global politics. The next section includes articles like environmental issues by John Vogler, James D. Kiras's views on terrorism and globalization, and nationalism by John Breuilly. This section also looks into nuclear proliferation, poverty, hunger, development, culture in world affairs, regionalism in international affairs, global trade and finance, human rights, and human security. The final section covers globalization in the future.

The book is inclusive of updated chapters and expanded coverage of recent developments. The figures, maps, questions, case studies, tables, and boxes included in the book help in better understanding. The Online Resource Centre is also helpful for teachers and students to gain additional information and exercises.

    The best for civil services

I have read this book not just once but thrice. The chapters are very informative and precise. Otherwise disorganised material is acutally presented in a logical and coherent manner here.
the book is best for those preparing for civil services exam for general studies mains exam and also for the interview if your service preference is Indian Foreign Service.
