Clean the areca palm seed using a knife, cut into the fibrous husk that covers the seed and peel it off to reveal the smooth seed inside. Viable seeds, soaked for 10 minutes in a solution of hot sulfuric acid, can be expected to germinate in about 6 weeks. Bury the seed in the potting mix to a depth so that its top surface is just barely visible. Cover them with straw husk to maintain moisture and heat .Water the pot twice a day or as necessary to keep the top couple of inches of potting mix moist. Seeds will start germinating from 4 to 7 weeks .
