Summary of the Book
Willie, the son of a Brahmin father and Dalit mother, is determined to live a more authentic life. He leaves home and goes to London to study. His life is that of a poor immigrant and he makes some money by writing a book and publishing it. Soon, Willie receives a letter from a fan, Ana. She holds his book in high regard and the two decide to meet. Ana and Willie fall in love and they leave for her country. Everything is fine till he needs to leave his life there and move in with his sister.

V. S. Naipaul is a Nobel Prize-winning British writer who was born in Trinidad. He is of Indian heritage and is known for his comic early novels that were set in Trinidad. He has published over 30 books, both fiction and non-fiction.
